Can my children travel alone?

Special assistance

LuxairTours holiday package

Package holidays for unaccompanied children under 18 years of age cannot be booked. They must always be accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian. If not, the accompanying adult must have written authorization from the parents or the legal guardian, which specifies how s/he must care for the child during the full duration of the holidays.

Luxair flight

Unaccompanied children need special assistance. They are in good hands at Luxair, as we look after their needs with the utmost care – the Luxair Check-in desks are the first point of contact for you and your child at the airport. Your Child will be welcomed on board by our flight attendants and looked after throughout the flight. After landing, a staff member will then take them to meet the person that will collect them from the airport.

For children aged 6 to 11 years old, you must inform us that your child will be travelling alone and you will need to complete an official declaration signed by the police or local authorities. For children aged 5 to 11 years old, an “unaccompanied minors UM” reservation is mandatory. This service costs €90 per flight.

For children aged 12 to 18 years old, written permission is required from their parents or legal guardian. Please note that Italian minors under 14 years of age are required to have an “unaccompanied minors UM” reservation.

Also, for children aged 5 to 11 years old, you must complete the following document that authorizes the transfer of liability: Find here the document.
Save time by printing out the special service form at home. (We recommend that you print 2 copies: one for you and the other to go in your child’s small bag (which you will receive at the Luxair check-in counter).

Important: In a few countries, such as France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Croatia segregated entry and exit regulations are used for unaccompanied children and minors.
It is the passenger’s responsibility to comply with these rules. We recommend that you contact the relevant authorities about current regulations.
Tickets for unaccompanied children cannot be booked online; they may only be booked at the Luxair Service Center or at your travel agency.
