During the trip, you and your children must be in possession of the required identification documents and visas for the departure, transit and arrival locations. Luxair does not accept any liability for missing documents.
Legislation regarding identification documents and visas varies widely throughout the world. To be sure, we recommend that you contact the embassies of the destination and transit countries a few weeks before your trip.
With TravelDoc, we provide you with a comprehensive tool for checking entry requirements. It offers you an immediate and clear ‘go/no-go’ indication of entry and customs regulations, passport requirements and health-related regulations. This means that you can always check whether you meet the entry requirements for your destination.
The following information may vary depending on the nationality of the children travelling. Therefore, this information is general and not universally applicable.
Passport: Children must have their own biometric passport. Since the introduction of the biometric passport, one travel document per person is issued2. The passport is required for travel to non-EU countries.
Visa: Whether a visa is required depends on the destination country. For some countries, such as the USA, a visa is also required for children if they do not fall under visa-free regulations.
Validity of the passport: Many countries require that the passport is valid for at least another six months at the time of entry.
Additional requirements: In some cases, such as travelling with only one parent or another companion, a declaration of consent from the parents may be required.

From 2 April 2025, you will need an electronic travel authorisation, known as a UK ETA, to travel to the United Kingdom, without which you may be refused entry.
Who needs to apply for a UK ETA?
The United Kingdom Electronic Travel Authorisation applies to travellers who are citizens of visa-exempt countries and therefore do not require a visa to enter the United Kingdom.
The ETA does not replace a visa for passengers who require one, but it is required for travellers without a visa or other immigration status, including children and babies. The ETA does not guarantee entry into the United Kingdom.
You can check whether you need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) on the UK government's website.
How can the UK ETA be applied for?
The UK government website provides you with all the information you need to apply for the UK ETA. The easiest way to do this is via the official mobile app.
To apply, you will need a valid passport, a valid email address and a debit or credit card to pay the application fee. We recommend that you submit your application at least 72 hours before your departure to avoid unforeseen delays in the ETA being granted.
Once approved, the ETA is valid for multiple visits over a period of 2 years, provided that your passport does not expire before then.
